Frequently asked questions about Arabella
What defines the Arabella Collection?
What pieces make up the collection?
Where does Arabella work best?
What should I know about the stone itself?
What size should I choose?
Travertine is the more outspoken of the stones MOD LIGHTING works in. The Arabella Collection cuts warm yellow travertine, banded, naturally pitted, unmistakably mineral, into clean modern silhouettes, so each piece reads as geology first and lighting second.
Yellow travertine, four ways
The collection runs a chandelier, a pendant, a sconce and a table lamp in the same stone. The chandelier is the statement piece, the Arabella Pendant suspends the travertine as two or three orbs, and the Arabella Table Lamp is cut from solid stone for a console or bedside. All four run warm white at 3000K, the temperature at which the ochre comes forward.
Choosing and placing Arabella
Size the chandelier by the room formula, length plus width in feet read as inches. Hang the pendant 30 to 36 inches above a surface, two orbs over a breakfast table, three over a dining table, and mount the sconce at 60 to 65 inches from the floor.
What travertine pairs with
Travertine does its work against smoother company: pale plaster, concrete, glass, light wood. It is also a different material from our alabaster collection, denser and more graphic where alabaster is translucent and quiet, so choose travertine for texture and alabaster for glow. The orb silhouette hangs comfortably beside our pendant lighting.
One Arabella light is usually enough to change the temperature of a modern room.
