Outdoor lighting is the one you most want to run on its own. A smart exterior light comes on at dusk, dims after midnight, and is off by sunrise without anyone touching a switch, and the entrance is lit before the car turns in.

What outdoor smart lighting includes

How to choose

Pick the fixture the way you would its standard version: a strip or ring for a wide, plain wall, a sconce to flank a door or a garage. Then decide the control you need. A dusk to dawn schedule covers most entrances. Dimming matters on a patio, where full brightness at dinner and a low glow afterwards are two different evenings. The Haylen RGB adds colour for occasions.

Places and pairings

A matching pair of smart sconces on either side of the front door, set to one schedule, is the most common setup. On a garage, two Haylen strips on one scene light the whole face of the door.
