Frequently asked questions about Flush Mount Ceiling Lights

An 8-foot ceiling rules out almost anything with a drop, and that is the room a flush mount ceiling light is made for: full light, a low profile, a shape worth looking at.

The flush mount range

Chloe stacks aluminum into rings and circles, in metallic gold or gold with pearl black. Celia pairs solid brass with natural alabaster at 15W, the stone spreading an even glow across a 16-inch disc only 2 inches deep. Spiral works an iron form 18 inches across, and Jayce is the large one at 37 inches and 50W.

Sizing, height and light quality

Add the room's length and width in feet and read the total as inches of diameter, about 22 inches for a 10 by 12-foot bedroom. Warm white at 3000K runs through nearly the whole range, with Seashell the exception at a crisper 4500K. Most of these run on an integrated LED strip or band rather than a socketed bulb.

Rooms and the layers around them

A flush mount belongs in the bedroom, the hallway, the entry and the laundry, and in a kitchen it carries the ambient layer while pendants work the island. In a bathroom it pairs with wall lights at mirror height, the ceiling lighting the room and the mirror lights the face. The wider modern flush mount lights and ceiling lighting fixtures ranges continue past this page, and the alabaster collection gathers the stone-and-brass pieces.

Measure the ceiling height first. It decides flush or semi-flush, while size, metal and style follow from the room, and one low-profile piece sets the mood of it.
